Where do I begin again?

I’ve been staring blankly at this page, don’t know what to blog about. There has been so many things that happened, are happening and will be happening. Was away in Fraser’s and boy, there’s no life there. No internet, no Astro, no computer, and it made me wonder how much I’m depended on them.

Since I don’t know what to blog about and where to begin again, it’s just timely that Sze has tagged me.

And he never woke up again

Him
Only 32
The only child
About to be married
Just about two more months
He worked extra hard
Just to save for the home he’s about to build
and the house he is building.
One night, he slept
And he never woke up again.

She
Teaches in a kindergarten
Where the children speak English and Mandarin.
About to walk down the aisle
To wed him, the man she loves.
He slept
And did not say goodbye.

His mother:
What happened?
Where’s my son?
Why isn’t he awake?
He’s getting married soon.
The wife-to-be, I like her a lot
Finally, my son, building his home.
No!
This can’t be…
Why is he taken away?
Where’s my son?

His father:
My son, my son,
You have left.
I haven’t said my goodbyes
I haven’t told you, “I’m proud of you”
You have left
To a better place, I know.
Into the arms of God.
With Him, I know you are.
Oh, what comfort to know,
You are with Jesus now.
Yet,
It is still hard for me
To let you go,
My son, my dearest only son.

They couldn’t believe it.
Their only child
He did not wake up
Why?
Is there something wrong?
He still did not wake up.

And they never got to see him again,
Never got to tell him again how much they loved him.
They never got to see him marry
Never will they have a daughter-in-law
Never will they ever have grandchildren and watch them grow
Never will they have him back.

My late grandfather’s sister’s only son, my uncle, had just gone to be with the LORD two days ago. His parents are in their 70s. He just did not wake up again. How painful it is to hear the story, how overwhelming it is to witness their grief, how sorry I feel watching them cry.

My grandmother
Heard of the news
Remembered her daughter
Her youngest daughter
She was giving birth to her first born
But her life was taken away
The day the baby girl was brought to this life.

I know it’s hard for my grandmother. Who would understand the parents’ sorrow more than my grandmother? She has been there. 20 years later, it is still as painful. Watching them cry together just now, really made me feel like something has just stabbed my heart. It hurts. It hurts to see them in grief. But for them, it is a million times worse than what I will ever feel. For my grandmother, the wound never healed and never stopped bleeding. For my uncle’s parents, they will carry this wound till they return to the Heavenly Father. It is painful.

Remembering the Fallen

When I was on the CNN homepage looking for news on China and Myanmar’s disasters, I came across one of the special edition entitled, “Remembering the Fallen - Casualties”. It reports on the number of soldiers who died in Iraq; 4,391 coalition death - 4,079 Americans, two Australians, 176 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, one Czech, seven Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Fijian, four Georgians, one Hungarian, 33 Italians, one Kazakh, one Korean, three Latvian, 22 Poles, three Romanians, five Salvadoran, four Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians - as of 21st of May 2008. On that page was the list of the names of soldiers, Marines, airmen, sailors and Coast Guardsmen. Click here.

I continued reading the list, how they died, how old they were. There were just so many names that it became merely numbers. There are over 4000 soldiers many in their twenties or thirties. Some of my peers are celebrating their 22nd birthdays this year but in that list, so many soldiers aged 22 died. Most of them died due to roadside bomb detonation. They are not merely numbers but they have their stories and their families. My deepest condolences.

LORDSON!!!!!!!

You know, I think the first time I met you was in some LRT. Seriously. I was with Sharon and I remember she bumped into some of her friends and one of them had a funny rather unique name, Lordson.

Then I think I saw you again in your church youth rally or something.

Hmm… even till today you’re still doing that which you were doing in the pic huh?

Okay, anyway, so we met in Form 6 and boy, many times we were each other’s worst enemy huh?

Hehe…

So anyway, I just wanna wish you a happy birthday and a speedy recovery!

I’m waiting for you to get well so we can quarrel more!!! Hehe…

Thanks for being a great friend just as you are.

(Sorry I don’t have your pic in my comp. Had to take from your facebook. Hehe…)

Get well soon and we can go makan and celebrate!

A Public Holiday

Monday - Wesak Day. So we thought of going to Malacca for a day trip but most people couldn’t make it so we had to plan. There were about 8 of us at Life Group last Sat and lotsa suggestions were thrown. So we discussed and discussed and discussed. And the verdict was, a healthy jog + picnic + monopoly at Taman Tasik Perdana a.k.a. Lake Gardens. Enough said. Here are the pics.

While waiting for the one who said we should not practice Malaysian timing but we should be punctual. Funnily, all of us were early but him.

Finally we reached!

We sang two songs and had devotion led by Ben. Then breakfast.
After breakfast, it was Monopoly time…
Kenny & the Monopoly… It’s the Disney Pixar Edition man…

The first two to bankrupt.

The group picture.
The happy LG!
